Pretreville (122) sets the standard on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings as he makes his first start for Adrian McGuiness. Previously trained by Pascal Bary in France, Pretreville is a smart performer on his day, as he showed when beaten just a length and a half into second behind Duhail in the Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud in May. This will be his first appearance for three months, but he has gone well fresh in the past. McGuiness has excelled with his recruits from other yards in recent years and it will be interesting to see whether the market speaks in favour of Pretreville in this Group 3.

The Johnny Murtagh-trainedCarrytheone (120) ran out an impressive winner of a minor event at Gowran Park two weeks ago, staying on strongly in the final furlong to land the spoils by three and a half lengths. The soft going won’t hold any fears for him and he has certainly earned a crack at this level.
